Orange, Black and Gold

Top: Huntington Ridge; Skirt: Forever21; Bag: Euraline Paris; Heels: Gianni Bini

The day i wore this outfit, i had like a million appointments...i wanted to wear something that was conducive to the weather but still preofessional like...i used to buy clothes for work and different clothes for party  until i realized that anything can be worn anywhere it just depends on how you wear it. Now my closet just has clothes...anywhere clothes....i wear my long sleeved shirts sometimes with shorts and another time with black pants, depending on the look im going for.

About the look: I purchased this top at a thrift store ($2 or $2.50..it was half off), the skirt is old and from forever 2 and the shoes are from gianni bini..they are chunky heeled, sorta high and very very comfortable .what do you think ...how do you use the things in your closet to go from professional to casual..to partaayyy

Fall for Colour...Fall Fashion 2011

Ok so summer has officially ended.. for those of you who were not aware (like i was) summer ended september 21..crazy because it still feels and looks alot like summer in florida and where i am from orginally...jamaica..where im still from..lol...its always summer... the season doesn't ever seem to change there and im not hating it because i really don't like being cold. However, im a big fan of  fall and winter fashion ..the layering with the  jackets, the coats, the leggings etc etc......i just love it all. Usually they'll tell you that you cant have your cake and eat  it too, i think in my case (living in South florida) you kinda can....the winter here doesnt get that cold..no snow..no bitter blizzards just nice cool to moderately cold days ..lol....where you can  rock fall and winter fashion and still be quite comfortable.....with that said lets look at some of what i consider the most interesting trends in fashion this fall

Peplum Blazers Coats and Vests

Peter Som and Thakoon, Fall- Winter 2011 (Glamour.com)

As expected,  this fall will see the return (well i wouldnt even say return ..because these are staples of the fall and winter seasons every year) of some of my personal favourites and im sure yours too....blazers (especially blazers), coats and vests however what seems to be trending is the peplum version of all these. Some of falls prettiest jackets, and blazers come with whittled-in-at-the-waist silhouettes—which means you can flaunt your ladylike silhouette even if you’re wearing lots of layers (glamour.com)

Polka Dots

Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenburg, Fall-Winter 2011

Ive always been a huge fan of polka dots...every season...polka dots- particularly black and white- have always been a staple in my closet. Lately however with the onset of these vibrant colour trends for summer and even fall (yes fall!!) i have been experimenting with different colours and different types of clothing with the pattern.... I think polka dot trend is a completely safe  trend to try even for those of us who are less experimental...trying a polka-dot blouse or scarf can put a playful—and trendy!—spin on  an everyday outfit and just give you that extra something your looking for...

Maxi Skirts and Cozy Sweaters

So youre looking for something comfortable and a bit low key? rather than resorting to jeans and a sweater...this season calls for the maxi skirt and the sweater....now personally im not completely sold on this trend and i guess this is because  mostly everyone in this photo and similar others look like bag ladies (no offence) ..lol.. and also   because i tend to go fitted and loose..not loose and loose..and i dont know why.. but in my head a comfy sweater is a loose sweater..i realized though that that isnt necessarily true so if i can find a sweater (already in my closet) thats a bit more fitted and  comfy of course i will be more than willing to try this trend...after all its always good to challenge yourself beyond the great blue jeans...

The Slit Skirt or slit-up- to- there skirt

Christian Siriano, Jenni Kayne and Diane von Furstenberg, Fall-Winter 2011

So falls newest party peice is the slit-up to- there skirt...interesting....its for those of us that still want to be covered up while dressed  up. I really don't know how i feel about rocking this trend ....its seems a bit risque to me ..i dont know but to have a slit right at the front going all the way up there..ummm im not sure...lol...maybe im a bit prudish? .....anyhoo in the name of being adventurous and experimental i think i might try this trend (dont hold me to it though).  If you're like me and do not already have this skirt in your closet, you're not willing to slit one of your skirts or you don't want to spend on what may ultimately become a once worn item then your local thrift store is your best bet. Its a cheap and easy way to add something to your closet that you are not quite sold on but still willing to try ...

Wrapped in Lace

The lace trend is really nothing new...its been a trend for the last couple seasons as far back as 07 (please correct me if im wrong)  ...and its a wonderful trend .. i just love lace..lace dresses (i have 4 that i have not worn yet), lace tops, lace skirts and lace shorts (i need to get one asap).... For this fall though, the lace trend is getting a bit more dressed up...a little bit more classy ...so nice lace dresses will be perfect for that weekend party, show or semi-formal event and  even for a day at the office. The fact is ..if you're a fashionista you will find that you are overdressed for alot of things..but dont worry you're not alone...

Bright Pants

Now i can tell you that this trend is a personal favourite...i have been wearing bright pants since forever even before they were  "fashionable" ..so now im completely on it....its a great way to vamp up fall outfits which tend to be centered around grays, browns, black, and other sometimes dreary colours...I need to get some coloured trousers though..with exception of a bright pink all i have are coloured jeans..

Granny Plaids

Tory Burch, Adam and DKNY, Fall-Winter 2011

Ok so by now we all know tha designers tend to over do it when they put a pattern on the runway...like full on plaid outfits...well im sorry but im not that adventerous...i picked this trend however because i have a plaid blazer that i have been dying to wear  but it just never seemed to be the right time ... it seems though that this season  will be absolutely perfect to wear it...

The Working Girl Dress

Luca Luca, Adam and Jill Stuart, Fall-Winter 2011

Ok so i love this trend. First, because i love dresses and second, because i love vintage dresses (even though i own like ..umm...one) and these dresses are so 70's  inspired. These dresses are super elegant and can be worn to work, out to eat, to a party or even worn casually with flats...i cant wait to get my hands on one

so there it is....the nine fall fashion trends i find particularly interesting .which ones do you plan to rock this fall..? let me know..

Mellow Yellow.......

Tank: Forever21; Harem Pants: Forever21; Bag: Relic; Hat: Forever21; Flats: Bamboo

Ok so i know this is a fashion blog but i just have to share something...so i was watching dirty dancing again ..and i should say that along with forest gump this is my favourite movie of all time....i absolutely loooove the final dance..i love the song (time of my life- i got married to that song...always said i would and i did :-) )...i love patrick swayze..i miss patrick swayze. i cried when he died..i cried when jennifer grey (his co-star in the movie) talked about him  and i got all teary again today ...i just love that movie oh so much

About the look: Theres just something about this pic..i like it so much ..i really wasnt posing it was just what i thought was a break between pics when i held my head down and he (my hubby) snapped me .....anyways the  outfit is pretty much forever 21 with the exception of the flats (my sister's that i took), the hat and the bag

Baila en la calle

Top: Silk Land; Belt: Forever 21; Skirt: Forever21; Clutch: Liz Claiborne; Heel: Nine West

As you might have noticed, i have an affinity for bright colours...growing up ive always heard my family and friends say that certain colours should only be worn based on your complexion but since ive gotten older i really dont care..i hated orange all the way up to college and frankly i dont understand why..i guess it was just one of those colours that i never cared to wear..Well clearly orange has been reinvented and is or should i say was this summers "it" colour..everything was orange and mostly everyone looked good in it...anyways

About this look: The top  was another thriftstore find ..100% percent silk, the skirt is from forever21...a little tid bit on this skirt....ok so its a xs and i am a small (before when i was 14 pound lighter i was xs) anyways the skirt is huge hence the belt..the extra small skirt is big on me can you believe that? and its this skirt i know because i usually dont have a problem with forever 21 sizing..im wondering if maybe it was tagged incorrectly ...what do you think of this look

Mudslide!

Top: Vintage; Skirt: Jon Benbasset; Clutch: Nas Bag; Belt: Donna Karan; Heel: Nine  West

As you may now know .if you have been following this blog or even checking out my outfits on chicisimo..i love thrifting....two of the items in this outfit..my favourite two... were thrifted ..the bag and the top. So i walked into the goodwill one day and saw this bag as well as another multicoloured one for ...wait for it....2.50 each...i was so excited...especially about this one....its GORGEOUS!! a very nice bag and its not torn or stained or missing anything....i love it...it has to be one of my bestest finds yet (yes, i said bestest...lol..). The top i think was $2 or there about ..i must admit i love buying these simple silk tops at the thrift store , not only are they an absolute steal but they are soooo comfortable in this south florida heat ..and you can get them in almost any colour..a great and cheap way to enhance (jazz up) an outfit!....

Red A'gaci

Hat: Walmart; Dress: A'gaci

I wore this outfit to the mall to get some shopping done...i really love this dress..its from a'gaci ..its the only thing i own from that store..lol...i go there every now and then but i never get anything until i got this dress. The dress is cotton, soft and really pretty and the red is bright and vibrant..the hat i picked up in walmart.....what do you think?

Black, Pink and White

Blazer: Tahari; Tank: Jacob; Skirt: Forever 21; Clutch; Green Mountain; Heels: Gianni Bini

So i was inspired to create this look by one i saw on lookbook ...i dont recall the fashionista's name (im so sorry)  but i really liked the look so i saved it in my glamour pics folder (a folder i have on my computer for outfits i really like and may want to recreate). I wore this outfit for our date night .... every saturday my hubby and i try to have date night..being married can become monotonous very fast if you let it...even more so if you add kids to the mix...luckily we have none so far ...so we try to make it fun every now and then after all we are still very young... anyways enough about me what do you think of ths look?

Casual Friday!

Top: Petticoat Alley (Marshalls); Pants: City Streets; Wedges: Nine West; Bag: Olsenboye; Jewellery: Forever 21

This was a casual outfit for a casual day of running errands and a little shopping..I fell in love with this top because of its colour or rather colours, its shape, feel and price..anyone who shops at marshalls knows how fairly cheap there tanks go for especially on clearance..anyhoo this top was sooo comfortable to wear in the day especially because of South Florida's heat ...the pants were a bit bothersome when i had to go outside but pretty ok with the a/c that's literally every where....

Mustard Please!

Blouse: Jordan (Thrifted); Skirt: Workshop Clothing; Heels: Steve Madden; Bag: Jennifer Moore (Thrifted)

I wore this outfit to see a movie..dont quite remember which one but i usually see a movie every tuesday night as apart of our (me and my hubby's)  date night. I was really happy when i  found this skirt brand new in my local goodwill..i found it in the kids section though...if you are a thrifter you should always check every section of the stores because sometimes you can never find anything you like in the regular sections and like the "best thing ever" in the most unlikely places. I have worn it once so far and i cant wait to wear it again....

I wore this outfit to the casino (my first time and i won 30 dollars yay!!) anyways i wore this outfit out one saturday night to the casinos..ive had this harem pants for like a month before i finally wore it ..i never expexted the end to be so close fitting (i bought it online)  but i guessmaybe  because i gained so much weight ..yea when i came here last year i was 110 now im 127..CRAZY!!. Since recently  these panst have grown on me they are really comfortable and i think very versatile....the top i got from a thrift store ...i love it the fabric is soooooo breathable and feels great on a hot florida day...

Colour Blocking...like a parrot?

Blazer: Saks Fifth Avenue (Thrifted), Cami : Forever21, Pants: Forever 21, Shoes : Nine West
I showed  a friend this photo and she thought i looked like a parrot which was pretty interesting because i didnt think so until she said it....Anyways this  is the same blazer from the post "fireworks"  ..i love it..i was inpired to do this outfit by another fashionista on chicisimo, i must say that one of the primary reasons i joined that site was for the inpiration, i also get inspired by lookbook as well (maybe even more so at times). I also wanted to do another colour block since i have only done about three so far...i wanted to do one  with this orange cami because its soo bright and pretty. I noticed after that most of my "out there" colour block looks have been with orange and pink...lol.....anyway what do you think of colour blocking....do you think it  might be a trend again next spring and summer?

Vintage Shirt

Shirt/Top : Vintage (Thrift store), Skirt : Poof (Marshalls), Shoes : Soda, Hat : Thrifted
I mentioned yesterday that i thrift very often..i first heard about thrifting from you tube and decided maybe i could try it. The first time i went thrifting was last year (2010) around novemeber/december and it was to get a black blazer because i didnt want to  pay $60 at a store which was the going rate at the time. My first impressions were not good, the stores i went to were just dusty and smelly and had very little traffic....... to say i ended up buying one at a store..One day i realized that there was a goodwill very near where i lived so i went inside. the experience was great...the store big and clean and the staff friendly enough.....needless to say  ive been going ever since..........

About this look: This shirt was a very vintage find..you coud just tell by the tag (if you could see it) ...it was in great condition though, i was attracted to it because of the colours and also the size, i wanted to pair it with a white skirt but my hubby preferred the black one..so i went with that.....it was a pretty casual day, doing laundry and some grocery shopping, i dont remember if i did anything else......

what do you think of this shirt?

Island Girl

Hat: Thrifted, Dress: Fire Los Angeles, Flats: Traffic
So i titled this pic "island girl" because the sunday i wore it i couldnt help feeling so "islandish"..i know.. i know thats not even a word but i did...i felt so summery,  sunny, relaxed and like i belonged on the island again even for just that day...i wore this outfit to go thrifting ...the dress is maybe a year or two old and the hat i got at athrift store for a dollar........

Fireworks!

Blazer: Saks Fifth Ave, Dress : Mai Tai, Shoes: Steve Madden;  Clutch: Thrifted
I wore this outfit on the fourth of July to see the Fireworks and the beach was jampacked and it was soo hot ..i ended up taking off the blazer immediately after taking these photos....the blazer was another thrift purchase...when i bought it it was huge size 8 i think ...luckily i bought it the day before i left for Jamaica so i took it with me as well as some other oversized ones and got them all fixed there...my local tailor is great (especially with jackets)  and cheap !! (lol). Do you like this look?

Floral Paradise

Dress: Local Store, Clutch : Leather of the sea, Heels: Nine West
About this look : I wore this dress for the very first time back home in Jamaica and decided to take it out for another spin...i really love this dress..it is soooo comfortable and very pretty. I paired it with my camel heels (well is that camel?) i dont even know...lol...i think it is ..i suck at identifying  non primary and secondary colours...anyways   i really love dresses...i love the fact that all i have to worry when im wearing a dress are the accessories...what do you think of this dress?

Red Delight!!

Top: Point and Line (Thrifted); Skirt : Forever 21, Bag: Thrifted; Shoes: SM NewYork

This was yet another casual look.....as you will notice if im not working, shopping or thrifting  im at barnes and Noble, i read alot and always have work to do and its a somewhat quiet place to get alot of reading done....I reall y loved this top....silk...can you believe it ..that i purchased at the thift store for $4 or $5 dollars. I decided to pair it up with this skirt i purchased at forever 21 last christmas and only wore once and this bag (also vintage) ...what do you think?.do you thrift?  if not would you try it?
